Women's Ministry Opportunities
LWML
The St. Andrew Lutheran Women's Missionary League Circle (LWML) was organized September 9, 1958 and adopted in 1995. The LWML meets on the second Tuesday of the month at the church. Its mission is to promote LWML in Mission Service and Education by providing a Christ-centered environment. Objectives include Mission Education, Mission Inspiration and Mission Service.
Year-long service projects include: Lutheran World Relief, Quilts and Blankets, Layettes, School Kits, Used Eye Glasses Collection, Campbell Soup Labels for Trinity School, Member of Lutheran Family and Children's Services of Southeast Missouri Auxiliary, and Used Postage Stamps for Missions Collection.
Potter's Clay
Potter's Clay is an inter-congregational LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) society. It meets the second Tuesday of the month for meetings and the fourth Tuesday of the month for Bible study. Potter's Clay is made up of women from the Lutheran churches in the Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Scott City, Gordonville, and Egypt Mills churches. It meets in the evenings so working women can attend. A babysitter is provided at the regular meetings but not for the Bible study.
The Potter's Clay focus is on missions, and it participates in many mission projects including collecting food for FISH, sponsoring a child in Haiti, sending donations to a kindergarten class in a Lutheran church in New Orleans, helping get the classroom back in order after the hurricane, and having a baby shower for Birthright and another for the seminary student and his wife that it sponsors. Other projects include collecting items for an Indian reservation school and personal care items for kits; and providing provide lunch to the students at the Chapel of Hope at Southeast Missouri University for the Wednesday Bible study.
Since it is inter-congregational, they meet at different member churches and the members from that church are hostesses for the meeting. At the meeting, they sometimes have a program and other times work on a mission project. Bible studies are held in the homes of member, and the study is taken from the LWML quarterly.
Potter's Clay is a group of ladies that have fun, food and fellowship together. Come and check it out.
